OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Section I. DESCRIPTION AND USE OF OPERATOR'S
CONTROLS AND INDICATORS
The airborne laser tracker is operated through the ALT control panel located in the lower middle console of the pilot's
cockpit control panel.
TRACK lamp - lights when system acquires a reflected
MODE switch
laser signal from target. System must be in SCAN 1 or
selects ALT operating mode
SCAN 2 mode. Reflected laser signal code must match
OFF- turns ALT power off (tracker
code selected at CODE thumbwheel switches. TRACK
gimbals are free to move)
lamp also lights in TEST mode.
TEST - starts ALT self-test
STBY - centers ALT optics (ALT ready
FAULT lamps - RU FAULT and/or EU FAULT lamps
to scan)
light during TEST mode if self-test fails.
SCAN 1 - scans 0 -8.3 degrees
elevation and 15 degrees azimuth
RU FAULT lap - lights in TEST mode if
SCAN 2 - scans 0 to -25 degrees
receiver is defective
elevation and 60 degrees azimuth
EU FAULT lamp - lights in TEST mode if
electronics assembly is defective
GO lamp - lights in TEST mode if self-test is good.
CODE thumbwheel switches
Lights with TRACK lamp after 25 seconds. The
selects a coded 3 digit number that
GO lamp will turn off again after 30 seconds.
